I am pleased to share a major investment in Sonoma State University’s future: the renovation of Nichols Hall to support the growth and advancement of the School of Nursing.
With the support of university leadership, School of Nursing faculty have endorsed a $25-million renovation that will create a modern, technologically advanced, and welcoming space to educate and prepare future generations of nurses to serve the North Bay region.

Our campus community finds itself in a period of loss and many are feeling the weight of this moment in different ways. We are mourning members of our community whose presence and contributions shaped Sonoma State in meaningful and lasting ways, and we know this may be experienced differently by each of us.
Dear Campus Community,
It is with a heavy heart and a profound sense of loss for our community that I write to share the heartbreaking news that Mario Perez, Vice President for University Advancement, passed away this afternoon following a medical emergency.
I know this news will bring shock and profound sadness across our campus. The sudden loss of a leader, colleague, and member of our community is difficult to comprehend, and the grief will be felt in many different ways by those who knew him personally and by all who were touched by his presence and service.
Dear Seawolves,
As California lawmakers move forward with renaming Tuesday, March 31, as Farmworkers Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on its significance for our campus and broader community. This day honors the labor, resilience, and enduring contributions of farmworkers.

Dear Seawolves,
The recent allegations regarding Cesar Chavez are deeply troubling and warrant every consideration, not only on behalf of those making these specific allegations but also out of respect and concern for every victim of sexual violence, abuse, harassment, and misconduct.
