The California Pre-Doctoral Program (also known as the Sally Casanova Scholarship) is now accepting interest from CSU students who are considering pursuing a PhD and a future faculty career.

This program supports rising juniors, seniors, and graduate students as they explore doctoral pathways, strengthen their academic profiles, and prepare competitive PhD applications.

Mileage Reimbursement Rate Adjustment for 2026

The California State University follows the business travel mileage rate published by the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) to calculate reimbursable costs of using a personal vehicle for university business use. The Chancellor's Office has notified campuses that the IRS has published the following mileage reimbursement rates effective for business travel occurring on or after January 1, 2026.

Last June we shared that Sonoma State would be transitioning to the Common Human Resources System (CHRS) - a CSU systemwide initiative to unify and modernize HR systems across all campuses. Fast forward, and we are excited to share that we remain on track for a May 2026 go-live.

January 5-9, 2026: First Responder Active Assailant Training at GMC

The Sonoma State University Police Department will host active assailant training for law enforcement and fire department personnel from January 5 through January 9, 2026.  Some areas of the Green Music Center, including all of Schroeder Hall and the education wing, will be off limits to the campus community between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.
