CHRS is Coming Soon - What You Need to Know

Thursday, January 8, 2026, 3:33pm

TO: Sonoma State Employees
FR: Amanda McGowan, Deputy CIO; Chandra Holte, AVP for Human Resources, and Diane Guido, AVP for Faculty Affairs and Success

Last June we shared that Sonoma State would be transitioning to the Common Human Resources System (CHRS) - a CSU systemwide initiative to unify and modernize HR systems across all campuses. Fast forward, and we are excited to share that we remain on track for a May 2026 go-live.

What this means is that you will start hearing more about CHRS in the coming weeks and months, especially if your position supports any implementation-related activities. Some employees may begin receiving invitations or project-related updates, so we want to make sure no one is left wondering, “What is CHRS again?”

Here’s a quick refresher:

  • CHRS = MyHR PeopleSoft (with a new, modern look)
  • It will standardize HR processes and improve employee self-service
  • It offers mobile access and easier navigation using tile-style menus
  • While it introduces some changes, it’s designed to bring long-term benefits for all of us.

This project involves thoughtful planning and collaboration across the university, and we will continue sharing updates and resources as we get closer to go-live.

In the meantime, to learn more:

  • Visit our campus website,
  • Explore the Chancellor’s Office CHRS website
  • Watch this short video for an overview of the project

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected].

Thanks for your continued support as we move closer to this important milestone.
