During the 2056-26 budget discussions for the state of California, an agreement was reached among the state Assembly, state Senate, and California’s governor to provide Sonoma State University (SSU) with $45 million of funding called the Sonoma State Commitment (SSU Commitment). The funding is being held at the Chancellor’s Office (CO) of the California State University (CSU) system; funds are available by request from SSU. The exact budget language is part of Assembly Bill 102 (AB 102) and is available here (search for “Sonoma” to find the language): AB 102

This website tracks budget requests, SSU’s current budget and student headcount forecasts, and also provides a repository of documents concerning the SSU commitment. We also track the use of funding from the CO as additional investment in the “Bridge to the Future” plan provided by SSU in April 2025. This website is public as of February 20, 2026.
