Out of this World - Music Department’s Spring Season!

The Sonoma State Department of Music invites our campus community to experience a season of live performance.

Hear the sweep of The Planets and the excitement of Star Wars. Enjoy scenes from Die Fledermaus and The Merry Widow, and a Rock Collegium set that moves from classic rock to pop favorites, with music by The Beatles, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Rush, Green Day, Muse, and more.

Join us in celebrating SSU students and the music they bring to life.

Free tickets for SSU students, faculty, and staff!  Follow these steps to get yours:

  1. Open the link "GET YOUR TICKETS"
  2. Open the menu (☰), go to My Account, and log in to your SSU account
  3. Click on “Sonoma State University” at the top to return to events
  4. Select your event one more time, and choose Student or Faculty/Staff tickets

Music of the Spheres

Saturday, Apr. 25 at 7:30 PM
Weill Hall, Green Music Center
SSU Symphony Orchestra and Diablo Valley College Philharmonic Orchestra

Two orchestras take the stage for a program inspired by the cosmos. The evening opens with Haydn and Strauss, then builds to Holst’s The Planets with SSU musicians and chorus. It all comes together in a closing performance of John Williams’ Star Wars score, a familiar, cinematic finish to share together.


An Evening in Vienna: Die Fledermaus & The Merry Widow

Music Opera Scenes

SSU Music brings together scenes from Die Fledermaus and The Merry Widow in a show full of charm and character. From Strauss’s lively waltzes and playful twists to Lehár’s lyrical favorites like the “Vilja Song,” vocal students shine in an evening of humor, romance, and memorable melodies shared with our community.


Rock Collegium

Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 PM
 Schroeder Hall, Green Music Center

Rock Collegium takes the stage with a setlist that spans decades of iconic sound. From Rush and Yes to ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, and Green Day, students bring fresh energy to familiar favorites, as well as original compositions. The program closes with a Beatles medley, ending on The End and a strong finish that stays with you.
