The Sonoma State Department of Music invites the SSU campus community to experience our exciting March performances. 

Be a part of the vivid storytelling of Pictures at an Exhibition and the colors of Suite Française

Feel the thunder of Carmina Burana and the brilliance of Sousa.

Join us in celebrating the bloom of SSU and our student musicians.

Free tickets for SSU students, faculty, and staff!  Follow these steps to get yours:

  1. Open the link "GET YOUR TICKETS"
  2. Open the menu (☰), go to My Account, and log in to your SSU account
  3. Click on “Sonoma State University” at the top to return to events
  4. Select your event one more time, and choose Student or Faculty/Staff tickets

Concert Jazz Ensemble & Latin Band

Feel the pulse of classic and contemporary jazz as SSU’s Concert Jazz Ensemble and Latin Band kick off this weekend full of music. From the cool sophistication of Horace Silver and John Coltrane to the driving rhythms of Duke Jordan and Brazilian-inspired grooves, this concert delivers bold solos, vibrant percussion, and the unmistakable energy of live jazz in full swing.

Music has a way of carrying us somewhere else. Suite Française paints the colors of France in sound, while Forged by the Sea rises from shadowed depths to open skies. Then Pictures at an Exhibition unfolds in vivid scenes, from the haunting Old Castle to the triumphant Great Gate of Kiev, inviting your imagination to roam freely.

Relive the thrill of great band music with the stirring power of Carmina Burana, the swagger of Sousa’s The Fairest of the Fair, and the bold brilliance of Fanfare and Flourishes. From Renaissance dances to the driving energy of Primal Dances, the concert unfolds across generations, awakening memory and reminding you how powerful it feels to truly listen.


2026 Sonoma Invitational Wind Band & Orchestra Festival

March 11-13, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

The Sonoma Invitational Wind Band and Orchestra Festival welcomes more than 1,000 high school musicians from across the Western States to campus for three days of inspiring performances that celebrate musical artistry at the highest level. Throughout the festival, outstanding student ensembles take the stage in Weill Hall, filling the campus with energy, talent, and the next generation of performers. As part of the festival, the SSU Symphony Orchestra performs at 1:00 pm and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble at 2:00 pm on all three days. Concerts are free and open to the campus community.
