Invitation to Provide Input on SSU’s Environmental Sciences Investment (Task Force)

Tuesday, February 3, 2026, 11:27am

TO: All Faculty and Staff
FR: Zeke Baker, Chair, SSU Environmental Sciences Task Force

Dear SSU Colleagues:
As you may know, Sonoma State University is committing $2 million over the next several years to strengthening environmental sciences, including both natural and social science disciplines. The Environmental Sciences Task Force has been charged with developing informed, workable budget recommendations to guide this exciting investment.
To support this opportunity, as with other Task Force investments, we are gathering input from faculty and staff across the university via a survey. Your insights regarding curriculum, research, staffing, facilities, partnerships, and SSU priorities are significant to the budget's success and responsiveness to your ideas.

We appreciate your time and thoughtful engagement in this process. The survey will close to responses on March 2, 2026.

If you consider yourself highly invested professionally in environmental science and education, please contact the Task Force Chair (Zeke Baker, [email protected]) or opt in for further communication at the end of the survey for possible inclusion in a focus group in Spring 2026. Focus groups will include faculty, staff, students, alumni, community partners, and prospective regional employers.
