Construction Beginning for The Gardens at Campus Recreation and Keys on the Plaza

Working in partnership with Student Affairs, Facilities Management is excited to announce that construction of The Gardens at Campus Recreation and Keys on the Plaza is scheduled to begin this week!
This project will create two new outdoor destinations around the Campus Recreation Center designed to provide more opportunities for the campus community to be active, gather, relax, and connect.
The Gardens at Campus Recreation, located between the Campus Recreation Center building and Darwin Hall, will include a beach volleyball court, two climbing boulders, outdoor fitness equipment, and seating and gathering areas.
Keys on the Plaza, located just southeast of the Campus Recreation Center, will create a new outdoor piano and gathering area designed to bring music and additional activity to the plaza.
Together, these improvements will create new spaces for activity, wellness, and social connection.
As construction gets underway, the campus community should expect temporary fencing, pedestrian detours, construction vehicles, noise, and other impacts near the project areas. Facilities Management will work with the contractor to maintain safe pedestrian routes and minimize disruptions to campus operations whenever possible.
We are excited to see these new campus spaces take shape and appreciate the campus community’s patience during construction. The project is targeting completion by the end of 2026.
