Over 100 new Seawolves got to know their new Library through guided tours and games at Sonoma State University's 17th annual Love Your Library event for incoming EOP students on June 28.

Five interactive stations included information about the library's collections, services and spaces through fun activities ranging from a visit to Special Collections, with its archives of vintage materials like 1960s yearbooks and original Brenda Starr comic panels, to a behind-the-scenes look at the massive Automated Retrieval System, which stores thousands of items delivered upon request via giant cranes and robotic carts.

Students toured the new Makerspace, which opens this fall, and the AV Listening Room, which features old-school phonograph and cassette players for vintage materials.  They also saw the range of DVDs available for checkout and being played in the viewing rooms.

Students got to know President Judy K. Sakaki thanks to a tour of the Library Art Gallery's current exhibit highlighting Dr. Sakaki's journey to the presidency and her family's history in internment camps during World War II.

Candy was the prize at Lobo bingo, and the Writing Center and Multilingual Achievers Program hosted a "How to Succeed in your First Year" Mad Libs game. SSU Library water bottles stuffed with bookmarks and pens served as a reminder of the evening's fun and of the many ways in which the Library can help students succeed.

At the end of the night, the new EOP students waved goodbye knowing more about their library and promising to return in the Fall.
