Sonoma State University's voice faculty presents their first joint recital, "Bel Canto," featuring sopranos Jane Erwin Hammett and Rhoslyn Jones and baritone Zachary Gordin singing arias, German lieder, and musicals in Schroeder Hall at the Green Music Center, October 28, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for general admission, free to SSU students.
Jane Erwin Hammett has performed across the United States and in San Francisco in two national companies of "The Phantom of the Opera". Hammett has earned two Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Awards and a Drama-Logue Award for appearances with San Francisco's Lamplighters, as well as sung many leading roles with Bay Area opera companies.
Powerful Canadian lyric soprano, Rhoslyn Jones, has performed with the San Francisco Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Vancouver Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria, New York City Ballet, Arizona Opera, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Anchorage Symphony Orchestra and others.
Zachary Gordin is renowned as a dynamic and engaging artist, bringing masterful singing and strong physicality to a wide variety of roles - from baroque heroes to contemporary works written specifically for him. As a soloist on the concert stage, he has performed Monteverdi's Magnificat with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony, Mahler's Kindertotenlieder with the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony, Mozart's Coronation Mass and Bach's Cantata #82 "Ich habe genug" with the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, Brahms' Requiem, Fauré's Requiem, and Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem with the Oakland Symphony Chorus.
