Guitarist Eric Cabalo To Perform Tirao’s Conciertango on May 12

Classical guitarist Eric Cabalo will perform Argentinian composer Cacho Tirao’s Conciertango Buenos Aires with the Sonoma State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble on May 12 at Weill Hall. The 7:30 p.m. concert will feature performances by the SSU Concert Band and Delta College Symphonic Band. 

Cabalo, an award-winning guitarist and educator, is the director of Classical Guitar at Sonoma State and owner of Cabalo Guitar Studio in Santa Rosa.

The program includes Holst’s Second Suite and works by Bach, Bernstein, Chattaway, Copland, Daughtrey, Ellerby, and Maslanka. Music major Zachary Newbegin will perform Tommy Pedersen’s bass trombone showpiece entitled Blue Topaz. Andy Collinsworth conducts.

Tickets are $8 and free to SSU students. On campus parking ranges from $5-$8.
