'First 50' Honors Athletes

January 5, 2012

In honor of Sonoma State University's first 50 years, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will honor the top 50 student-athletes in school's history this spring as part of "The First 50", an elite mix of Cossacks and Seawolves from all sports. The department is now actively seeking nominations in order to formulate a ballot. Once a ballot is prepared, it will be voted on by a panel of past and present coaches, administrators, and media representing all eras of SSU Athletics.

The criteria is simple. A student-athlete must have completed their athletic career at SSU by the end of the 2010-11 season. Student-athletes active in 2011-12 are not eligible for inclusion.

Sonoma State University has a rich athletic history. Highlighted by conference, regional, and national championships, All-Americans, and even student-athletes who have gone on to illustrious professional careers, we are proud of our past.

The First 50 "team" will be announced later this spring. Stay tuned to www.sonomaseawolves.com for more information.
