The California Pre-Doctoral Program

February 13, 2012
online degree

Faculty members are encouraged to notify eligible students of the California Pre-Doctoral Program for the 2012-2013 academic year. The program is designed to increase the diversity of the pool of potential university faculty by supporting the doctoral aspirations of current upper division or graduate students in the CSU who have experienced economic and educational disadvantage. Special emphasis will be placed on increasing the number of CSU students who enter graduate programs at one of the UC institutions.

Selected scholars work closely with a CSU faculty sponsor to develop a plan that leads ultimately to enrollment in a doctoral program. Pre-Doctoral awards, in the amount of $3,000, may be used for travel to doctorate-granting institutions and national symposia or professional meetings, for application and test fees, journal subscriptions, and membership in professional organizations. Up to $1,000 of the award may be used by the faculty sponsor for joint travel.

Selections are made at the Chancellor's Office and are based upon information given in the application. The application must be completed electronically (Word format) and can be downloaded from http://www.sonoma.edu/aa/gs/pre-doctoral.shtml . Completed applications must be submitted to the Academic Affairs office for campus review by no later than Friday, March 16.
