July 26, 2016

Sonoma State University is one of 38 locations across the state to host the California Teachers Summit on Friday, July 29, celebrating the teaching profession, promoting collaboration and equipping teachers with tools to better implement the new California standards. The event features keynote addresses from teacher and author Kelly Gallagher and actor Ernie Hudson, as well as local education leaders.

Registration is still open for the Better Together: California Teachers Summit at Sonoma State University's Person Theatre on Friday, July 29. The summit is an opportunity for educators to share ideas, join a teacher network, and learn effective strategies for implementing the new California Standards and Next Generation Science Standards in their classrooms.

The event is free and will feature keynote addresses by education leaders, TED-style EdTalks presented by local teachers, and Edcamp discussions led by teachers, for teachers. This is the second year of the summit, with last year's event hosting 15,000 teachers throughout the state.

California State University awards 6,500 California Teacher Credentials annually. Of these, more than 1,500 STEM teachers are made in the CSU--the largest number of any institution in the nation.
